Getting to Kisama
The festival is held at Kisama Heritage Village (officially the Naga Heritage Village), about 12 km south of Kohima on National Highway 2, between Kigwema and Phesama villages. Expect slow traffic on festival days.
From further away. The nearest airport and railway station are in Dimapur, about 74 km from Kohima by NH-29. Shared or full taxis leave from beside Dimapur station. Allow 2–3 hours and check road conditions.
Permits. Visitors from outside Nagaland need an Inner Line Permit (ILP); apply online at ilp.nagaland.gov.in. Foreign nationals also need a Protected Area Permit (PAP); it was relaxed for the 2025 festival, so check before you travel.
Hornbill Festival is organised by the Government of Nagaland. Nagaland Stays is an independent directory.
